Located to the east of Madagascar in the sparkling Indian Ocean, you’ll find the breathtaking island of Mauritius. With stretch upon stretch of immaculate white sands, crystal clear waters and luxury beach front resorts, Mauritius is an idyllic tropical island paradise.
This stunning island is home to some of the world’s most lavish resorts so it’s no surprise that it remains a favourite with couples and honeymooners
year on year. Mauritius boasts some incredible all-inclusive resorts with outstanding facilities including Michelin starred dining, luxurious spas, land and water sports and, of course, picture perfect beaches.
However, there’s much more to Mauritius than this. Venture away from the spectacular coastline and you’ll discover a place of natural beauty. Here you’ll find lush tropical forests, cascading waterfalls, neat sugar cane fields and magnificent botanical gardens. The island is also protected by one of the world’s largest coral reefs so the snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities are simply superb!
Mauritius is also a place steeped in history and the rich and varied cultural influences can be seen across the island. Since it was discovered by the Dutch in the seventeenth century, Mauritius has been has become a marvellous melting pot of European, African, Indian and Oriental influences. It was Mark Twain who said, “You gather the idea that Mauritius was made first, and then heaven.” We think he may have been right!
Head to the island’s capital, Port Louis, for a real taste of Mauritian city life. The Caudan Waterfront area boasts an array of shops, restaurants and bars. Don’t miss the opportunity to haggle at the market for unique holiday souvenirs that have been handcrafted by the locals.
The Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens were constructed in the mid-1700s and are the largest botanical gardens in the southern hemisphere. Take a stroll through the lush vegetation and discover the giant ‘Victoria Amazonica’ water lilies that can grow up to two feet wide!
Inspired by the cultures and people who have settled on the island over the years, the Mauritian food is a culinary experience not to be missed. Enjoy authentic Indian, Asian, Chinese and Creole delicacies but the star of the Mauritian gastronomic show has to be the fresh local seafood!
Mauritius is a mecca for water babies! Take a trip to Blue Bay Beach, grab your mask and snorkel and experience the coral gardens at the island’s first marine park. If you prefer to keep your feet dry, jump aboard one of the glass bottom boats and tour the reef whilst soaking up the Mauritian sun.

The reception we received at The Beachcomber properties was outstanding and we were all blown away by the standard of service, accommodation, in fact everything these beautiful hotels have to offer. Beachcomber excelled in the three evenings of entertainment and copious amounts of fantastic food and drink they organized for us with everyone gushing with enthusiasm the next morning. I’m sure I can speak for all the Travel Counsellors who attended in that we will all be keen for our customers to experience these market-leading hotels.
While in Mauritius we were all able to experience a variety of excursions which again were a fantastic way of helping us get a real feel of what this beautiful island has to offer. For me the day started with a luxury speed boat ride over the reef to join the most beautiful Catamaran. I spent the day with a great group of colleagues/ friends soaking up the sun whilst dolphin watching and taking in the awe-inspiring sights of Mauritius. Just another day at the office I promise!
